Bulls Take Two From Yorkton

The Bulls took two from the Yorkton Cardinals over the weekend. Saturday night was a roller coaster of a game. The Bulls had a 9-1 lead after the 5th inning and had to hold on to win in extra innings. The Bulls were down to their final out in the bottom of the 10th before tying the game and winning it in the 11th inning. Luc Hebert started on the mound for the Bulls. Hebert cruised into the 6th, but surrendered 3 runs to leave the game with a line of 6.0 IP, 7 H, 4 ER and 2 K’s. It took five relievers to finish the game for the Bulls, and Ben Kennedy pitched a scoreless 11th to earn his first win of the season. The boys pounded out 20 hits on the night getting contributions from all parts of the order. Mitch Dornblut was 4-6 with 2 runs and an RBI, Bretton Gouthro was 3-5 with 2 runs and an RBI and shortstop Evan Comeau was 3-4 with 2 runs and an RBI.

 

On Sunday afternoon the Bulls completed the two game sweep of the Cardinals. It was another close contest that the boys pulled out 4-3. All four of the Bulls runs came in the bottom of the 6th. Troy Blad had a 2 RBI double, Jacob Caples and Evan Comeau each with an RBI single. Brandon Bufton was 2-2 with a run scored to raise his team leading average to .371. On the mound Clark Grisbrook stepped into the rotation after pitching out of the pen. Grisbrook pitched well going 8 strong innings giving up only 1 ER and striking out 3 Cardinal batters. Chris Sodolka picked up his 5th save of the season in relief. 

 

The Bulls will return to action at home on Tuesday and Wednesday when they take on the Regina Red Sox at Spitz Stadium. Game time for both games is 7:05pm.
