Bulls Top Okotoks 1-0 Win 5th Straight

06/22/2015 9:54 AM -

The Bulls picked up their 5th straight win on Sunday, downing the Okotoks Dawgs 1-0 in front of a sold out crowd at Seamen Stadium. It was also the Bulls 5th straight victory over the Dawgs in the 2015 season. On a beautiful afternoon in Okotoks Luc Hebert saw himself in one of the best pitchers duels in recent Bulls memory. Hebert was outstanding over 8 innings of scoreless baseball. The Prairie Baseball Academy product only surrendered 2 hits on the afternoon and struck out 7 Dawgs batters. With the win Hebert moves his record to 2-1 on the season and now boasts the third best ERA in the WMBL at 1.19. Chris Stodolka finished the game off for his second save of the season, and keeps his 2015 ERA at 0.00. Stodolka has only surrendered 3 hits in 10 innings this season while striking out 9.

Offense was tough to come by all day. Kyle Kubat started on the mound for the Dawgs and was effective in keeping the Bulls hitters off balance all afternoon. The Bulls scratched out 7 hits off Kubat, and an RBI single in the 3rd inning by Brandon Bufton was the only run scored for either team on the afternoon. Josh Day had another multi-hit day going 2-4 and veteran Mitch Dornblut was also 2-4 on the afternoon.

With the win the Bulls pushed their record to 14-4 on the season. The boys will return to action on Tuesday in Swift Current. The Bulls return home next weekend with a Friday night game against rival Medicine Hat, before hosting the Melville Millionares for games on Saturday and Sunday.
