Lethbridge Bulls Take The Lead!

07/04/2014 12:34 AM -

It was a beautiful night for baseball at Spitz Stadium where the leagues top 2 teams faced off to see who would end the night off in 1st place in the WMBL.

The Bulls starting pitcher for the night was #27 Mac Major.

It was a quiet 1st inning with no runs, however the Bulls put some points on the board with a single from Dylan Dyson that brought #11 Cody Steward home at the top of the 2nd with the Bulls sitting at 1-0. The Mavericks fight back with a pair of singles bringing the score 2-1 for the mavericks at the bottom of the 2nd. Skipping ahead to the bottom of the 4th and the game is tied up 3-3!

A single by #8 Owen Taylor brings two Bulls home putting the Bulls in the lead with a score of 5-3 at the bottom of the fourth, but not to be outdone the mavericks hit back and grab a single bringing the game to a close 5-4 game.

As we head into the bottom of the 6th inning Mavericks player #8 Blake Rowlett takes a ball to the face and is down for the count, he gets up and while he walks off the field the crowd applause's, glad you're ok Blake.

The Bulls jump ahead at the bottom of the 7th when #25 Travis Steinke knocks one out of the park in left field! Score now sits at 7-4!

Things got intense as the Mavericks scored  a single in the top of the 8th bringing the score to 7-5. At the top of the 9th inning bases loaded, 2 outs, 2balls mavericks at bat there was a palpable tension in the air, However Bulls #20 Jake Hansen strikes em out ending the game with a 7-5 score!

This win puts the Lethbrige Bulls on top of the league with 16 wins and 8 losses! Go Bulls Go!
