Bulls Get Huge Win in Canada Day Beat Down

07/03/2018 11:27 AM -

The Lethbridge Bulls wasted no time getting back in the win column, as they took the Canada Day Spectacular, 14-4 over the Weyburn Beavers.

With a sold-out crowd of 2240, the Lethbridge Bulls gave fans something to cheer about as they clubbed 14 runs on 19 hits, as they laid a beat down on the Weyburn Beavers, improving their record to 9-15 on the season and start their climb back to a playoff spot.

An early home run by the Beavers in the top of the first inning silenced crowd and the mood in the ballpark before an outbreak of runs came from the Bulls in the bottom of inning with home runs from Lachlan Mayo and Dylan Borman. The Bulls had fought back and took the lead 3-1.

The barrage of runs continued, as the Beavers replied in the second with one run themselves, making the game 3-2.

Taking a 4-3 lead into the 6th, the Bulls took off and never looked back, giving fans something to really cheer about after such a close game. A four run sixth and a five run 7th would be the dagger for the Beavers, as it was all Bulls from there on out.

Borman went 4-for-6 with two RBI, leading his team to victory, while Kaleb Warden continued his stellar season going 3-for-5, with three runs scroed.

Jesse Hillyard went 3-for-6, plating home two, as Mayo finished the day 2-for-5 scoring four runs and driving in two.

On the mound for the Bulls was Andrew Grieder, who earned the win. Grieder went five and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on seven hits, all while striking out five. This improves Greider's pitching record to 2-2 for the season.

The Bulls next home game is Wednesday, July 4th at 7:05PM as they take on the Edmonton Prospects. You can buy tickets by clicking here.
