Bulls Headed To The Championship!

08/11/2015 12:33 PM -

The 2015 Lethbridge Bulls earned a place in the Championship Series for the first time since 2006 on Monday night. On a hot night in Medicine Hat the Bulls continued their dominance in the 2015 WMBL Playoffs. The Bulls have yet to drop a game. The Bulls will play the winner of the Weyburn and Regina series. After Monday night Regina led 2-1 in the best of 5 series.

Pat Kelley started on the mound for the Bulls battling his way through 6 innings. Kelley gave up 4 hits, 3 runs and 3 strikeouts on the evening to pick up his first win of the playoffs. Reno Dupuis and Matthew Beaton threw perfect 7th and 8th innings in relief. Jake Hansen pitched the 9th and Medicine Hat showed how tough they have been all year by battling for 3 runs off Hansen. After the last out was recorded the boys stormed Hansen at the mound celebrating the sweep of the Mavericks.

On offense the Bulls recorded only 8 hits, but the majority were loud hits. 6 of the 8 Bulls hits on the night went for extra bases including homeruns by Travis Steinke and Brandon Bufton. Cody Stewart had a triple, Dylan Dyson had two doubles and Mitch Dornblut also recorded a double on the night.

The Bulls will enjoy at least one day off as they wait to find out who they will play in the championship series. If Regina wins tonight the series will start Wednesday. If Weyburn pushes the series to five games the finals will start Thursday night.
