2-0 Bulls! Bufton Wins MVP

08/04/2015 8:56 AM -

The Bulls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their best of 5 series with the Swift Current Indians on Monday. With a 5-1 victory the Bulls have the Indians on the brink of elimination. The two teams will play in Swift Current on Tuesday and Wednesday if necessary.

It was announced during the game that Brandon Bufton had been named the 2015 WMBL MVP. Bufton lived up to the billing on Monday night. In his first at bat Bufton crushed a pitch over the scoreboard in left to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead. In the second inning Bufton hit line drive double into the left field gap to score two more Bulls. Bufton had all four of the Bulls RBI’s on the night. Congratulations to Brandon on his tremendous 2015 regular season.

Leadoff hitter Cody Stewart was 2-4 with 2 runs scored and Bretton Gouthro was a perfect 3-3 on the evening.

On the mound Luc Hebert was very good for the Bulls. At times a little wild, Hebert kept the Swift Current hitters guessing all night. Hebert threw 6.2 innings gave up 4 hits, 0 Runs while striking out 4 batters. Hebert found himself in a two out bases loaded jam in the 7th. Reno Dupuis entered the ball game and promptly got the Bulls out of the jam. Dupuis did surrender a solo home run in the eight, but that was all the offense the Indians could muster. Chris Stodolka pitched a perfect 9th inning with two K’s to finish off the ball game.

The boys will now head to Swift Current looking to end the series. Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) will be played at Mitchell Field at 7:05 pm. Good luck, and GO BULLS!
