With the ever so exciting Canada Day double-header at Spitz Stadium just around the corner, the Lethbridge Bulls sit in second place of the Western Canadian Baseball League's West Division with a record of 12-12.
First baseman, Kaleb Warden has continued to impress this season, slashing .425/.500/.675 with eight doubles, four homers, and 29 RBI's. The former WCBL Rookie of the Year is well on his way to being a finalist when it comes to MVP voting this season. Warden is a player to watch on the Bulls the remainder of the year as he has been the Bulls, and maybe the leagues best player.
Another hot hitter for Lethbridge is second baseman, Ashton Roy. The Garcon, Ontario native is batting .353 for the season, with five doubles, four homers, and 22 RBI's. Roy began the year crushing the baseball, leading the WCBL in many categories, making a name for himself around the league. He has since fallen off the leaderboards, but is still scaring WCBL pitchers when he comes up to bat.
Starting pitcher, Ben Erwin is off to a hot start this season as he leads Bulls pitchers in strikouts with 27 and in WHIP with a number of 1.09. His best start of the season thus far came against the Yorkton Cardinals when he tossed a complete game, allowing only three hits, striking out an astonishing 12 batters.
The Bulls are in action Friday night for Gas King Family Friday at Spitz Stadium against the Brooks Bombers. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05PM. A make-up game from a contest with the Cardinals that was rained out is scheduled to be played Saturday with a start time of 12:35PM.
