Bulls drop game one in Swift
The Lethbridge Bulls dropped game one of the 2012 playoffs falling to the Swift Current Indians 7-1 at Mitchell Field. Jared Mortensen suffered the loss on the mound despite allowing just 2 earned runs through 6 complete innings. Riley Spencer followed Mortensen, throwing the 7th and 8th inning, allowing 2 earned runs on 2 hits. Overall, the Bulls allowed 5 unearned runs in the ball game which came from 2 errors.
The Bulls offense was unable to solve Indians starter Brian Ranta who threw 7 strong innings allowing just 5 hits and 1 run, which came from a solo home run in the 7th inning off the bat of Bulls third baseman Jesse Sawyer. The Bulls mustered a total of 5 hits in the ball game with 3 of the 5 hits coming from second baseman Joel Blake.
Game two of the best-of-five series goes Wednesday night at 7:05pm in Swift Current. Bulls will return home for game three and four (if necessary) of the series on Thursday and Friday at Spitz Stadium.
